Fast Track Reno

Renovation has been on the fast track since last Saturday.

Friday. Polishing of the marble flooring. And for the first time, we went into our home, bare footed. Problem! Patrick called about 3pm to let us know that water has seeped through the floor and affected the ceiling of the unit below. We went to take a look and saw some water dripping down from the cracks. Not very serious. But Patrick said that he will re-paint the affected area for our neighbour – so no hard feelings.

Saturday morning. AUMIX guy came to take measurement to realized that the constructed walls are not straight. Hence the sliding door will not close properly. And the guy was quite persistent to go ahead with the measurement as he don’t want to make another trip down for measurement. But we were insistent. Patrick said that will rectify the problem for us and arrange with ALUMIX for another measurement.

Next came the lights. The electric guys were around but no installation were done because according to them, no drilling allowed on weekends. So they merely mark the position and started sawing the holes for the lights. Problem! The false ceiling height is supposed to be 4 inches but some areas are only 3 inches. Sigh. So for these areas which are too ‘shallow’ the ballast have to be detached from the lights when installed.

Then came the furniture. We went to the Lifeshop warehouse sale a couple of weeks ago and bought a TV console, some dining chairs and a really cool bar table. They are not willing to keep our stuff any longer in their warehouse thus the pre-mature delivery! But we did not take the stuff out from their packaging since the place is still in a mess. So no pics yet.

Platform was up - the skeleton only, actually.

And the pipe, which will be buried under the platform … that’s for the cable to connect from our PC to our TV so that we can surf on the BIG SCREEN!

Today went back to check on the progress! WOW!

Finally COLOURS!

Mocha for our living room.

Blue for the boys room. Will be painting the white clouds and yellow stars or maybe moon myself when we settle in. The plane from Thomson Lighting along Balestier.

Purple for our master bedroom. But we find the purple a lil too light. Sigh! Can still change the colour?

The electric guys were around and all the down lights were fixed.

We though the rubber problem were rectified thus surprised to see the windows all taken down and all rubber changed. According to the shifu, the previous work resulting in long-short rubbers were done by the youngsters. This time round, the shifu did an excellent job. They are so skillfull and the rubber tubing goes all around the perimeter of the window with just one snip. Neat, quality work.

The kitchen cabinets are up … but think the grey and the white don’t match. So how??

The frames for the cabinets under the windows are also up. The walls behind the cabinets will be left exposed so that we can access the air-con pipes in case of choking or leakage.

Every stage of reno - problem, problem, problem.

Really hope that Patrick can hand over this weekend. But looks like not very likely leh ..
